How to Hook Up Your iPhone to Your TV (2 Ways)

Sometimes, watching images or movies on your iPhone becomes an awful way because of the iPhone small screen. 

I dare that TVs are the best device where you can watch clips or movies or even images.

You probably have a HDTV with a bigger screen in your home but you’re pondering how to hook up iPhone to TV and because of that, you’re here.

Does it exist or not? Yeah, It exists but.. there are 2 ways to do that.. to hook up your iPhone to your TV, both are easy but you choose the best solution that suits your budget and TV preferences.

As I said, there are 2 ways. So here they are:
  • Connect your iPhone with your TV using a lightning Digital AV Adaptor and a HDMI cable
  • For Apple TV users, Connect your iPhone with your Apple TV using AirPlay.
Both solutions have their advantages and drawbacks. So you choose carefully yours depending on your budget without forgetting your TV preferences.



First, I gonna show you how to hook up your iPhone to your TV using the Lightning Digital AV Adaptor. 

It’s an easy way to do it if you already have the Lightning Digital AV adaptor and an HDMI cable.

There are the steps you should do to stream or mirror your iPhone screen on your TV:
  1. Connect your Lightning Digital AV Adaptor to your iPhone and the HDMI cable to the adapter and the other side to your TV.
  2. Move to the appropriate source on your TV, if you plugged it to HDMI1 choose HDMI1 from the source list.
  3. Once you choose your HDMI source, the TV will mirror your iPhone screen on the TV screen.
Now you can watch your movies, clips or play music on your HDTV.


If you are an Apple TV user, you need no cable to hook up iPhone to TV. You need just one thing that is already available on iPhone and Apple TV and It’s AirDrop. If you don’t know about it, you can check this Wikipedia page.

Here are the steps to mirror or stream your iPhone on your Apple TV:
  1. Connect the iPhone and the Apple TV on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Swipe your screen from the bottom and activate AirDrop on your iPhone.
  3. Select your Apple TV.
  4. Your Apple TV will start mirroring your iPhone screen. 
Notice: If you have a low Wi-Fi signal, it’s normal that you’ll have some image break up.
